What would possess someone to bolt a route with so much ground-fall potential? It looks amazing, but Ondra is clearly a unique breed...

Looks like they quite easily could avoid to deck with less slack. But probably Adam do not want the rope to help him stop the swing. Stating the obvious of course, they would have noticed there was a possibility to deck the first time.

Agreed. You can see the rope clearly hold his swing on one of the first attempts shown in the video.
