I've never seen anyone climb with gloves on before. (@ 6:57) Made me wonder: are they not helpful in most situations or just poor form? If the latter why would layers tape be any better?

I do remember a company, maybe Metolius, making gloves for crack climbing. I think tape is preferred since it is much more secure on your hand than a piece of rubber
